Taiwan stocks lower at close of trade; Taiwan Weighted down 0.88%

Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the , Oil, Gas & Electricity and Computers & Peripherals sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted fell 0.88%.

The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Fortune Oriental Co Ltd (TW:2491), which rose 9.96% or 1.35 points to trade at 14.90 at the close. Meanwhile, AzureWave Technologies Inc (TW:3694) added 9.95% or 5.60 points to end at 61.90 and Anji Technology Co Ltd (TW:6477) was up 9.95% or 2.80 points to 30.95 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were EZconn Corp (TW:6442), which fell 7.85% or 51.00 points to trade at 599.00 at the close. Hiwin Technologies Corp (TW:2049) declined 6.23% or 20.50 points to end at 308.50 and Chung Fu Tex-International Corp (TW:1435) was down 6.15% or 2.20 points to 33.60.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 0 to 0.

Shares in AzureWave Technologies Inc (TW:3694) rose to 5-year highs; up 9.95% or 5.60 to 61.90.

Crude oil for February delivery was up 0.16% or 0.12 to $73.25 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in March rose 0.11% or 0.08 to hit $76.01 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract rose 0.18% or 4.82 to trade at $2,673.82 a troy ounce.

USD/TWD was up 0.06% to 32.93, while TWD/CNY unchanged 0.05% to 0.22.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.21% at 108.98.
